It is the property of Lady Russell. All, with the exception of 12 acres under cultivation which is rocky. It is bounded on the east by the road from Athenry to Monivea and a bye road passes through the centre of townland from east to west.

Situation (John O’Donavan’s Townland index 1862):

It is 2 miles north of Athenry, bounded on the north by Montpelier, west by Skaghaderreen. On the south by Ballydavid Middle and on the east by Cahertubber East.

1821 –  there were 16 houses inhabited.. 

1841 – there were 230 people  living in 55 houses in the townland.

1851 –  there were 95 people living in 17 houses inhabited Ballydavid.

Tithe Applotment Book Data (1827):

In 1827 Thomas Murray of Ballydavid had 57 acres of 2nd grade land, 60 acres of 3rd grade land, totalling 117 acres.

John Mahon had 2 and a half acres of 2nd grade land.

John Skahill had 67 acres of 2nd grade land and 6 acres of 3rd grade land.
