THE RAILWAY STATION AT ATHENRY

Source: Galway Observer – Saturday 10 March 1883

Sir – Whether owing to scarcity of fuel or distance from turf and bogs I do not know, but the waiting rooms at the above station are disagreeably distinguished for a complete absence of fires, and I must observe in fairness that the first class waiting rooms were on this bitter March day as bleak and cold as the third class ones. I hope this will meet the (if nothing else does) of the directors that they may kindly assist in thawing.
