It is situated 4 miles west of Athenry. It is bounded in the north by Moor and Cashla, West by Carnmore, south by Lisheenkyle and east by Caherbriskaun. It is in the barony of Clare and in the E.D. of Aughrim.  O’Donovan in 1858 says that it was also known as Creglea and Ballybrit.  It is situated 4 miles North of AAhenry and was the property of Walter Lambert It contains 252 acres.
