It is the property of Lord Oranmore, all under tillage. It is bounded on the south and west by the road from Athenry to Loughrea, having a corn mill in its western extremity and being partly bounded near the above point by the old town wall of Athenry. 7 chains from its north-east angle is a well called Tubberblaura.
Situation (John O’Donavan’s Townland index 1862):
It is situated 1 mile south-east of Athenry bounded on the north by Kingsland South, on the west by Athenry, Prospect and Gortnahouen, on the south by Boyhill and on the east by Rathard. When translated Baunmore means a great green field. Other old names for Baunmore are Tober na Breac and Poulacappal. Baunmore was originally the property of Lord Oranmore and it contained 211A 1R 2P, when 6 tenants occupied the land.
To the western extremity of Baunmore is a corn mill and it is bounded by the town wall.
Census
1821 Census Data of the area.
According to the census report of 1821 Rev. F. Prendergast P.P. owned 15 acres of 2nd grade land and 55 acres of 3rd grade land. Dominic Browne Esq. owned 60 acres of 2nd grade land.
In 1841 there were 15 inhabitants living in Baunmore compared with 47 in 1851.
In the census of 1851 the Directors of the Alliance Insurance Company owned Baunmore and there were four our tenants occupying the land. Pat Glasby and Partners owned 10 acres of 2nd grade land and 6 acres of 3rd grade land.
Tithe Applotment Book Data (1827):
According to the census report of 1827 the Rev F. Prendergast P.P owned 15 acres of 2nd grade land 35 acres of 3rd grade land. Total 50 acres.

Archaeology
In the Archeological Survey, which was completed in 1986, it states that these is evidence of a church, a holy well, site of a Fulacht Fiadh (23), and a bridge in Baunmore, Gortnahown and Prospect(24).
