Derrydonnell Forest was first planted in 1936 and replanted in 1959.

It is situated 4 miles west of Athenry, County Galway, and will become the site for Apple’s Cloud Computer Centre in the very near future, now that the computer manufacturing giant has acquired planning permission.

Athenry based photographer, Brendan Reaney, visited the forest late one August afternoon/evening where he captured the forest’s atmosphere, majesty and stillness before this beautiful environment resonates to the sound of construction machinery.
