Andy, son of Tom and Eileen Keane, Rathmorrissey, Athenry, always had an interest in art. He attended Sligo IT where he studied Fine Art, which included painting, printing, sculpture, photography and ceramics. After graduating he specialised in working with glass.

He soon realised its potential and how it could transform space by adding colour or etching its surface or simply adding lead lines to the glass. Every project presents its own challenges as regards size, shape and design. Every aspect is customised to suit the client’s requirements.

The design process is aided by a catalogue of photographic images, drawings and select glass panels. After a decade of glass design and fabrication of glass panels for domestic and commercial projects,

Andy established his own business and studio not only to  continue his work but as a research base to learn more about glass crafts. Glass firing, slumping and  even jewellery are future developments as the possibilities for expansion are endless for this medium.

Recently, Andy was commissioned to make trophies for the Galway Chamber of Commerce President’s  Business Awards Dinner. Each prize consisted of a stain glass ‘Galway Hooker’ mounted on custom made teak easels.

Andy trades under the name ANDY’S GLASS DESIGN

He not only produces decorative glass panels but glass shelving, table tops and double glazing can be supplied and fitted.
