Pakie Moran and Sean Kelly were publicans in Monivea, Mrs Kelly is still running the bar.
Paddy Ward was a publican in Ballyfa, his son Sean (in photograph) was an agricultural student in Dublin and died at 21. His son Michael and his wife Ann (nee Fordham, Monivea) have the premises in Ballyfa.
Tom Garvey Bens nephew owns M.B. Garveys, New Inn.
Jimmy Somers and his wife Brid had The Western Hotel now called The Newpark.
Joe Rabbitte, Church Street, Athenry was a brother of Gregs, New Line.

Jimmy Ward was from Wards Hotel, Lower Salthtll, Galway.
Joe Manning’s bar was where Lucas takeaway is in Bridge Street.
Sonny Glynns still has J.GIynn over the door, it is owned by his niece Mary Feeney Curran.
Ray Glynn has the Central Bar in Davis Street owned by his father Thomas, a brother of Sonnys.
Martin Glynn had his bar in Northgate Street where Coffeys Bar & lounge are, he was married to a sister of Thomas and Sonny Glynns and was father of Rita, Northgate Street and Patricia Kelly, New Line.
Jack Madden, Bengarra was father of Angela Burke, Ully 0*Shea, Cahertubber, Emily Kelly, Swangate and Malachy and Noel Madden, Bengarra.
Mattie Brady farmed in Moonbawn until his untimely death this year.
Paddy Gardiner still operates his carpentry and undertaking business at The Square.
Francis Sweeney’s uncle, Jones Sweeney, had a public house and hardware shop at the location where Francis has his auctioneering business.

Mattie Shaughnessy lives in Cahertubber, he went on the Guinness tour as Sonny Glynn’s guest and remembers it as a marvelous day.
Tony Coffey was Mrs. Anthony Quinn’s guest on the tour.
The late Kevin Whelan and Carmel Torpey’s father had the bar where the Square Inn is today.
Seán Torpey owned the premises now called Iggys in Cross Street.

The Hop Inn was formally Brendan Higgins’ bar and grocery: he was an uncle of Willie Higgins, Prospect.
Kathleen Hanberry owned the Hotel still called Hanberrys; her sister Mrs. Niggins lived in Ballinrobe.
Mrs. Brenda Ruane and her husband. Tom. had the Shamrock Bar in Cross Street where Kasturi. the Indian restaurant and The Cross Street cafe are.
Shane Cleary was from Dublin; he later managed The R.D.S, in Ballsbridge.

Kathleen Brennan had a bar in the three storey building in Northgate Street between Dan’s Bar and Dowlings. Her sister, Mary Tully, lived in Barrack Lane.
Maureen Stack’s aunt, Mrs. Durkin, had a bar in Church Street where the Shopping Basket is.
Johnny and May Whelan (nee Dolan), parents of Detta and Mary, had the The Jersey Bar now The Fields of Athenry gift shop.
Josie Murphy and her husband John had the Arch Bar,
Jackie Houlihan was Josie’s brother.
